Recyclable Glass Sculptures
Every time I carry empty glass containers to the recycling bean, they seem to me too material to belong there. It is also weird to see glass jars standing on the shelves of florescent-lit supermarkets, anachronistically sealing artificially colored and favored products in organic clarity of glass. Thanks god for those brands still using glass containers, for they might become the last relicts, melted and deformed beyond recognition, after the Great Blast consumes our quiver civilization.
I work with the recyclable glass containers because I love both natural and human history. I regard glass, which is composed of river sand and ashes and formed in fire, as the second oldest men maid material after ceramics. To give my sculptures an archeological look, I apply paint and silver stain, used by centuries in the traditional art of stained glass painting Then I melt them in kiln.
I can only guess the way my sculptures may form. Apart from predicting a possible shape, my task includes learning which types of jars and bottles belong together, because some of them cannot tolerate each other and crack in fire. I may accept some of these cracks as metaphorical, I may also brake glass myself, prior to placing it in the kiln, to let it melt in unpredictable way.
My art process suggests playing with chance. I like its slow pace set by rhythmic cycles of heating and cooling of kiln. It ties me up with generations of craftsmen whose labor depends on being kin in endless try and error. The gradual development of my glass sculptures reminds me of organic growth.

Artist Statement
Painting is indispensable for my overall health: I cannot lead an existence of a sloth just melting jars and bottles! Energy accumulated in the gradual image formation of recyclable glass sculptures, seeks its outlet in vigorous action and immediate gratification.
