Artist Statement
My sculpture is an exploration of the human psyche, focusing on feelings of fear, guilt, loss, pain, love and regret. I strive to show duality in these emotions and everyday struggles, as it is this possibility of another option that keeps us from ever stopping to questions our lives, situations, thoughts and actions. It is what keeps us from ever becoming too comfortable in our own skin.

In order to express these ideas I use feelings that have been turned into recognizable visual objects, or eternal symbols, and juxtapose them with other elements to create this duality. Through the anthropomorphism of animals, using strong body language for the figures and this use of symbolism, I can convey personal ideas in a way that is more approachable for viewers. The end result is familiarity with an oddness that makes it compelling.
