| Artist Statement
I am a storyteller, visual artist and teaching artist. I use raw materials like found objects, birds I have preserved, insect wings and feathers. My favorite pastime as a child was dressing up and putting on plays; I was an actor for many years and I draw on the theater for inspiration. Many of my pieces are miniature stage sets.
Words are important in my process and I read poetry as I work. I carve, cut and embellish books.
Themes are hidden allowing the viewer to make up his/her own narrative in response to the work. |
