Artist Statement
The body of collage work that I have developed during the past five years emerged from an intense interest in the human form and a fascination with how altering ready-made images from disparate sources could dramatically change the scenarios that support those forms. As I began to manipulate composite figures, I became intrigued with how the commonplace suddenly became charged with new meanings and possibilities: By juxtaposing contexts, themes of relationship, isolation and chance became imbued with ambiguity and narrative. Manipulating images from advertising photography raises the questions of how advertising plays upon our voyeuristic human impulses and what the conclusions we ultimately draw are. There is a kinesthetic element that imbues the work and, hopefully, conveys a visceral experience to the viewer.

I invite the viewer to share a voyeuristic adventure: I hope one will experience the suspense that ignites a fantasy, a longing, an association when viewing the work. Therefore, any narrative that exists will be completed in the mind of the beholder.
