In InLiquid’s inaugural exhibition at west elm, Sarah Zwerling’s exhibition features an array of digital collages each based on a photograph that captures an emotional connection to a specific place. By adding both color and hand cut images of paper flowers and birds, and selectively subtracting superfluous details of the original photograph, Zwerling is able to create an image that is her re-imaged memory of a particular place. Zwerling is seeking to create evocative images that are inspired by her environment, and provide an unexpected emotional experience for those who encounter these prints.
